Quick Navigation Cheat Sheet

Overview

This cheat sheet provides quick reference for navigating the Dr Migrate platform efficiently. Use this guide to quickly locate tools, features, and understand the platform workflow without needing to explore each section in detail.

Platform Login Methods

Dr Migrate offers two primary access methods depending on your deployment type:

Azure Marketplace Login

  • When to use: Customers who deployed Dr Migrate through Azure Marketplace
  • Access method: Sign in using your Azure AD credentials
  • Access control: Your Azure subscription and permissions control platform access

SaaS Login

  • When to use: Customers with a hosted Dr Migrate instance
  • Access method: Login via credentials set during onboarding
  • Access control: Direct access without requiring Azure infrastructure

Top-Level Navigation (The Six Chevrons)

The platform navigation reflects the complete migration planning workflow. Each chevron represents a critical phase in your migration journey:

Platform Layout & Top-Level Navigation

Dr Migrate is built around a top-level navigation bar that reflects the migration planning workflow. Each chevron represents a critical phase in your migration journey, with dropdown menus providing access to specific tools and features.

📊 Insights

View real-time dashboards, analytics, and exportable reports. Access 100+ interactive dashboards to analyze your infrastructure, costs, and modernization opportunities.

⚙️ Setup

Prepare your data for planning by validating collection health and configuring TCO assumptions. Set Azure pricing, on-premises benchmarks, and organizational defaults.

📦 Inventory

Map servers to applications using CMDB Assistant or manual uploads. Establish logical groupings and validate your application portfolio structure.

🎯 Goals

Define strategic intent: whether the business wants to rehost, modernize lightly, or undergo a full transformation. Set migration priorities and constraints.

📋 Planning

Assign application-level strategies, 6R treatments, assess migration complexity, and build wave groups. Use AI assistance for automated recommendations.

🚀 Migrate

Connect to Azure Migrate for move execution, dependency insights, and move group syncing. Execute your planned migration strategy.

Activity Tracker Progress States

When you log in, you'll land on the Dashboard with the Activity Tracker providing visual project progress:

Locked 🔒: Prerequisites not yet complete - these tasks cannot be started until dependency requirements are met

To-Do ⭕: Ready for action - all prerequisites satisfied and task can be initiated

Completed : Signed-off and done - task finished and validated

AI-Powered Assistants Quick Reference

Dr Migrate includes AI-powered Assistants that speed up repetitive or complex tasks. All processing is performed locally, ensuring data security.

CMDB Assistant

Uses machine learning to group servers into application workloads automatically, reducing manual mapping effort.

Migration Goals Assistant

Determines the best migration approach based on business input and strategic objectives.

Modernisation Targets Assistant

Suggests appropriate Azure services based on preferred modernization level and application characteristics.

6R Assistant

Assigns 6R treatments based on goals, strategies, and technical constraints automatically.

Application Sizing Assistant

Calculates migration effort and complexity based on application characteristics and dependencies.

Wave Planning Assistant

Groups applications into waves using sizing, affinity, and strategy considerations.

Important: All assistants produce editable outputs. They guide, not dictate, the migration plan, allowing you to review and adjust recommendations based on your specific requirements.

Use this reference section to locate tools and actions across the platform, organized by common task categories:

Sign-Offs & Task Completion

Each chevron includes a Sign-Off control (typically found in the top-right corner of most pages). This feature enables you to mark stages as complete and progress through the workflow systematically.

Sign-Off Process

  1. Mark Stage Complete: Use the sign-off control to indicate that a workflow stage has been finished to your satisfaction.
  2. Unlock Downstream Tasks: Signing off automatically unlocks the next dependent tasks in the Activity Tracker.
  3. Reflect in Reports: Completion status is reflected in reports and dashboards, providing stakeholder visibility.

Key Benefits: Sign-offs are non-destructive: you can always go back and make changes even after marking a stage complete. This flexibility supports iterative planning and continuous refinement.
